AGREEMENTS OF CARE ON THE DANCE FLOOR

“ The beauty of nature insists on taking its time. Everything is prepared. Nothing is rushed. The rhythm of emergence is a gradual slow beat always inching its way forward; change remains faithful to itself until the new unfolds in the full confidence of true arrival.” John O’Donohue

Embodied Respect

We value personal boundaries and maintain awareness of surrounding bodies to ensure safety and mutual respect.

Non-verbal Reverence

We maintain the magic and integrity of a non-verbal practice. While vocalizations from the depths of the body and breath are encouraged, please refrain from engaging in conversation during the dance session. This allows for deeper connection through movement and expression.

Expressed Consent

We honor explicit consent before engaging in physical contact or interaction with fellow dancers. This ethos is upheld through clear body language like, direct eye contact, responsive mirroring, and mutual understanding. When uncertain, verbal confirmation of consent is important. We respect each individual's choice to engage, connect, or dance solo.

Embrace Sovereignty

We encourage your own self-reliance and taking your own measure. The facilitated guidance serves as invitations to explore your own embodiment throughout the dance and you have the agency to follow those threads and listen to your own process. We also trust that you will seek your needs of support; asking for your needs invites reciprocity.

Tech Sanctuary

We store devices away to preserve focus and the potency of the space. Please refrain from capturing photos and videos during sessions and there is no need to use music identification apps throughout the dance because if there is a track that tickles your fancy, just ask, I love sharing music!

Common Ground

We meet on the dance floor with a unified physical presence. Asking dancers to join with bare feet or supportive dancer shoes.

Wellness Priority

We prioritize the health and well-being of our community. Please avoid attending dance sessions if you are unwell and potentially contagious, to prevent the spread of illness.

Natural Presence

Arrive in a natural state of being. Refrain from the influence of alcohol or drugs and please don't wear strong fragrances to dance sessions. The intention is to keep clarity and presence during the dance experience.

Conscious Confidentiality

We honor the trust and vulnerability of fellow dancers by maintaining discretion regarding personal shares and experiences within the dance space. Lessons learned may be carried forward, but identities and specific details shared within the circle remain confidential.
